Drunk Man with Kitten Calls 911 After Strip Club Denies Him Entry

A cat fight of sorts broke out at a Florida strip club, where a man tried to enter the club while holding a small kitten.

Purr-haps the kitten's presence violated the club's 18-and-over policy? Whatever the reason, bouncers denied entry to Everett Robert Lages, 47, of Port Charlotte, Fla., and told him and his kitty to shoo, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

That apparently rubbed Lages the wrong way. He refused to leave, plopped down outside the Emerald City Gentleman's Club in Murdock, Fla., and called 911.

Sheriff's deputies arrived and spoke with Everett Robert Lages about his (and his kitten's) denied entry into the strip club. Not surprisingly, they noted Lages appeared to be drunk.

Deputies told Lages he needed to get up on his hind legs and leave. They even called a taxi for him.

But a few minutes later, Lages allegedly went wild, accusing the strip club's owner of committing some kind of crime. He called 911 again and again, though deputies were right in front of him.

Lages refused to end his 911 calls, so deputies took him into custody. The kitten lover faces charges of disorderly intoxication, trespassing, resisting arrest, and misuse of the 911 system.

The strip club that denied entry to the man and his kitty claims it's the largest fully nude strip club in Southwest Florida. So there's likely lots of room for patrons to bring pets.

But in general, a business can set and enforce its own "no pets" policy, though service animals may have to be allowed by law. Local health laws may also dictate whether dogs or cats are allowed in establishments were food or drinks are served.

It's highly unlikely, however, that Everett Robert Lages' kitten counts as a service animal. Animal control agents picked up the kitty, WZVN-TV reports. Lages was released after sobering up and posting $4,000 bond.
