Drunk Ice Cream Man Had Bottles of Urine in Freezer
Another summer, another drunk ice cream man.
Yassir Hassan was arrested in suburban Philadelphia on Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence.
But his inebriated state was quickly forgotten after officers searched his treat truck.
In addition to ice cream, he was toting around bottles of urine--one of which was stored in the freezer.
As officers tell it, a do-gooder alerted emergency services after he saw Yassir Hassan weaving down the highway, reports the Philadelphia Daily News. When pulled over, it was quite clear that they had a drunk ice cream man on their hands.
Upon further search of the truck, the paper reports that officers found several boxes of wine, as well as several water bottles of urine throughout the truck.
One was stashed in the freezer, right next to the tasty treats.
A representative from Jack & Jill/MidAtlantic Vending Co., the trucks owner, told the paper that the drunk ice cream man was an independent contractor and had only leased the truck two days prior to his arrest.
It's likely that the company is emphasizing that Yassir Hassan was an independent contractor because, ordinarily, employers are not liable for the negligent acts of persons who are classified as such. This would mean that, if anyone was hurt (by the urine or the driving), the company may not be subject to liability.
As an aside, it's important to note that the ice cream truck was without a sink, meaning that Yassir Hassan, who shall forever be known as the urine-storing drunk ice cream man, was unable to wash his hands. Gross.
