Drugged up 'Jedi Master' Sentenced in Savage Beating
"Stopped they must be; on this all depends. Only a fully-trained Jedi Knight, with the Force as his ally, will conquer Vader and his Emperor." - Yoda
"For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic." - Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi
Either way, a true Jedi Master would never attack an innocent person.
But Pennsylvania resident Milan Marinkovic is not a Jedi Knight, though he apparently thought that he was.
Police recently arrived at a parking lot and found Milan Marinkovic, 36, standing over a bloodied and beaten body. He told police that he was Jedi master Obi-Wan Kenobi, on a mission to "kill all evil."
According to a witness, Marinkovic and Shawn Delp, who were friends at the time, were walking around a parking lot when suddenly Marinkovic attacked Delp unprovoked. He choked Delp, punched, kicked and elbowed him in the face and stomped on his head after Delp, 30, lost consciousness. Delp suffered severe bruising, broken teeth and required stitches; he still suffers from headaches and other injuries. Marinkovic allegedly was high on prescription drugs. When the police arrived, he told them that he was Obi-Wan Kenobi. "I really struggle sometimes with who I am, what I did. He was my best friend at the time," Marinkovic said.
Marinkovic, 36, was sentenced to between 8 and 20 years in state prison for brutally attacking Delp. Marinkovic pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in order to avoid going to trial. Assault is an act intended to cause an apprehension of harmful or offensive contact, that causes apprehension in the victim that harmful or offensive contact is imminent.
After waking up in a holding cell, Marinkovic said that he didn't remember the event at all. His former friend was having none of that -- he urged the judge to put Marinkovic away for a long time. Bucks County Judge Albert Cepparulo reportedly gasped upon seeing images of the victim. "I hope one day that he can function in society without waking up with blood on his hands, but I don't know when that will be," Delp said, MSNBC reports.
