Driver's Dog Tosses Drug-Filled Sock Out Window

When man bites dog, that's news they say. When dog tosses drugs out window, well, that's really news.

Joel Dobrin of San Diego was driving a 1998 GMC pickup in Oregon when he was stopped by Sherman County Sgt. John Terrel. The reason for Terrel's stop? The officer saw a sock come flying out the window, reports the East Oregonian.

According to the Sgt. John Terrel, Dobrin told him just what happened: he was trying to stash his marijuana and hashish in his sock, but his pit bull mix grabbed it and wanted to play tug-of-war. In the end, the dog won the game, though he sent the sock and drugs flying out the window like a slingshot.

It made for an interesting story, but it didn't change the outcome. Dobrin was cited and released for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana. In Oregon, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $500 to $1000, with no prison time.

"I wish everyone traveled with their own personal drug dog ... It sure would make our job easier," said Sherman County Sheriff Brad Lohrey in a news release, the East Oregonian reports.

Dobrin was later indicted by a Sherman County Grand Jury. Unless he reaches a plea deal, he will appear in Sherman County Circuit Court on charges of possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

It's a shame that pit bulls aren't used as drug dogs, as it sounds like Joel Dobrin's dog has talent.
