Drake Settles Fraud, Rape-Claim Lawsuit

By Lisa M. Schaffer, Esq. on December 04, 2018 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

Drake and Layla Lace have agreed to bury the hatchet regarding events surrounding their one night stand in Manchester, England back in February of 2017. Settlement terms were not specifically disclosed, but apparently both sides will cease to talk about the whole matter, and try to move forward without further ado.

One Dance Drake May Regret

In February of 2017, Drake and Layla had a one night stand. If you ask Drake, it was consensual. If you ask Layla, it was rape. Soon after that, in April of 2017, she posted to her Instagram account that she was pregnant with Drake's child. She went further in her claim of carrying Drake's child when she was on a radio show, SiriusXM's Shade 45, saying "I know who I sleep with unprotected, period ... So it's 100 percent sure. He knows it."

Worst Behavior Hopefully in the Past

Fast forward to September of 2018. Drake filed a suit against Lace for civil extortion, fraud, emotional distress, abuse of process, and defamation. In the suit, it is alleged Lace booked a flight to see Drake soon after February of 2017, but that Drake refused to communicate with Lace, and that's when things got nasty. Lace then began to claim she was pregnant with Drake's child. It is a fair guess that neither side wanted to go to trial over this issue. And since Lace is without child, it is a fair guess that the pregnancy claim was false.

According to settlement documents filed with the court, the issue has been resolved completely. Lace agreed to not republish her Instagram post from April 2017 where she first made the pregnancy claim and that she will not make "statements alleging or insinuating [Drake] assaulted her," impregnated and abandoned her, or any other disparaging comments about Drake. Hopefully their worst behavior is in the past and they can move forward without headlines.
