DJ Khaled Evicted Over Unpaid Rent?
DJ Khaled is reportedly facing eviction from his Miami apartment after failing to pay rent.
The hip hop DJ/producer rented an apartment from Misci LLC last year where he reportedly agreed to make two payments of $66,000. After making the first payment on time, Khaled allegedly skipped out on the second $66,000 payment, reports Complex Music.
Misci reportedly tried to work out an arrangement with Khaled and the DJ ended up making another $10,000 payment before failing to pay the rest. The landlord now wants to evict DJ Khaled for the remaining $55,000 in unpaid rent.
Misci already gave Khaled a three-day notice to vacate the apartment, but the DJ has refused to leave, reports Complex Music. Now Misci has filed a lawsuit in Miami to get reimbursed for the money and to evict Khaled.
When a tenant fails to pay rent, landlords typically have to follow a legal process to kick the tenant out. The process is specified in state laws and differ from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. However, a landlord seeking to evict usually has to give notice to the tenant of the tenant’s violations and offer the tenant an opportunity to cure the breach. After a tenant fails to cure the breach, the landlord normally has to begin a legal process and basically sue to evict.
Misci seems to be following the proper protocols for eviction in Florida as it gave DJ Khaled notice that he had to pay rent or be kicked out, and the company is now seeking a court order to legally force Khaled out.
