Lisette Lee: DEA Agents Arrest Her Carrying 500 lbs of Pot

Forget about traveling light.

DEA agents arrested California socialite, Lisette Lee, carrying 506 pounds of marijuana in 13 suitcases, the Columbus Dispatch reports.

She was arrested with the pot at the airport after flying to Ohio from California on a private jet.

Lee, 28, was picked up by Drug Enforcement Administration agents with a body guard and two assistants in tow.

According to the complaint, Lee told DEA agents that she is a model and a recording artist and was bringing equipment and belongings to a boyfriend who had bought a horse farm in Ohio. However, she could not provide authorities with the last name of her boyfriend.

Lisette Lee is accused of bringing 23 bales of marijuana to Columbus and is now facing charges in U.S. District Court. None of the people she was traveling with were charged.

Specifically, Lee was charged with felony counts of possession of marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.

In general, federal and state drug possession laws make it a crime to willfully possess illegal controlled substances such as marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, LSD, "club drugs," and heroin.

These laws also criminalize the possession of "precursor" chemicals used in drug cultivation and manufacturing, as well as certain accessories related to drug use. Drug possession laws vary according to drug type, amount, and geographic area of the offense.

Lee told agents, that a friend pays her $60,000 to take several trips from California to Columbus. Each time, she said, the friend gave her 12 to 14 suitcases to bring to Columbus on a charter flight. Lee would deliver the suitcases to a Columbus hotel room, stay in Columbus for two or three days, then return to the same hotel room and pick up other suitcases before flying back to California.

Lee faces five to 40 years in prison and a maximum fine of $2 million on the charges.
