Cops Arrest Man Who Ordered Pot at Burger King Drive-Thru
Do you want some fries with your marijuana? Floridian Shawn Porter and his unidentified passenger probably would. Porter probably thought he'd get a few chuckles out of the cashier when he ordered pot at a local drive-thru.
Unfortunately for Porter, the Burger King employee decided to report him to the police instead.
Essentially, it appears that the joke is on him. Porter was arrested after police traced the license plate on his car to a residence a few miles away from the fast food restaurant. Authorities found 28 grams of marijuana and a marijuana cigarette in his ashtray.
It all started when Porter pulled up to the Burger King. Either Porter or the passenger in his car asked the employee for a "blunt and some herbs." The employee noticed the smell of marijuana emanating from their vehicle when they pulled through, which is why staff members jotted down their information.
It seems that Porter and his passenger were smoking drugs in the car, which makes some sense. After all, fast food really hits the spot when you have the munchies.
Some people think that "DUI" only refers to driving while drunk. In many states, that's not the case. Driving under the influence of even prescription medication can impair one's reflexes and can be unlawful depending on the quantity of drugs consumed.
So maybe Porter should count his blessings. There is no indication that he was charged with other crimes besides possession of marijuana. He was held at a local jail on a $1,000 bail, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
