Conservator Sought for Lindsay Lohan?

Lindsay Lohan's father will reportedly seek a conservator for his daughter.

Last week, Michael Lohan tried to orchestrate an informal intervention for his troubled daughter. The father reportedly worked in conjunction with Lindsay Lohan's lawyers and manager in an attempt to stop the troubled actress' alleged drug and alcohol abuse.

But Lindsay Lohan reportedly turned away her father at the door and then called the cops, reports Fox News. Now Michael Lohan is planning to go to court and seek a conservatorship for Lindsay.

Michael Lohan claims that his daughter is "drinking between a bottle and a bottle and a half of vodka per day," reports Fox News. The father also says that he has seen empty bottles and even cocaine in her hotel room.

In addition, the father says that the actress needs pills to help keep her awake, and then needs additional pills to help her sleep.

With his informal attempts at saving his daughter seemingly failing, Michael Lohan is now seeking court intervention with an appointed conservator.

Generally, a conservator is someone who is appointed by a court to take over and manage the estate of an incompetent person. As you can tell from the definition, the first step for having a conservator appointed is to have someone deemed "incompetent."

While drug and alcohol abuse are self-destructive, the overuse of such drugs does not automatically mean someone is incompetent. Typically, courts are reluctant to appoint a conservator for someone's health and finances against that person's wishes, unless it is truly necessary.

Michael Lohan will likely have to prove that his daughter's drug and alcohol abuse threatens her life for a court to even consider having a conservator appointed.

Even if a conservator is needed, the court will have to decide on who will look after the actress' well being. Michael Lohan has already said that he does not want the difficult task of overseeing his daughter's finances as people will see it as a money grab, reports Fox News.
