Coheed and Cambria's Michael Todd Arrested for Pharmacy Robbery
Rock band Coheed and Cambria's bassist, Michael Todd, was arrested for robbing a pharmacy in Massachusetts.
The robbery occurred just a few hours before Coheed and Cambria was set to open for Soundgarden.
Todd allegedly went into the Walgreens store and gave the pharmacists a note that said he had a bomb. He demanded around 6 bottles of prescription painkillers (OxyContin), reports The New York Times.
He then hopped onto a cab where he was taken to the Comcast Center in Massachusetts, where the concert was going to be held, The New York Times reports.
Police were able to track down the cab via the dispatcher. Todd was later identified by the pharmacists and the cab driver, and was arrested at the concert hall and charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics.
And what of the band? Coheed and Cambria plowed on, performing without Todd. On the band's Facebook page, the group said that Todd would be replaced by Wes Styles, according to The New York Times.
Todd is being held on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned on Monday, reports TMZ.
Celebrities are usually no stranger to run-ins with the law, or with drug abuse. But, few celebrities tend to turn to robbery in order to satisfy their urges.
What made the robbery a robbery? Likely the use of the note that said he had a bomb. Robbery is the taking of someone's property using either force or fear. And, there seems to be little doubt that if you hand over a note to someone saying that you have a bomb, you're going to be generating more than just a little fear on the cashier's part.
Will Todd stop abusing drugs and using prescription painkillers? One can only hope so, as Coheed and Cambria says that their tour will continue, despite the fact that their bassist, Michael Todd, was arrested, reports CBS News.
