Boston CLE on First Circuit Practice June 6

Here's some interesting information about a Continuing Legal Education event in the Boston area on Wednesday.

The event is titled "First Circuit Court of Appeals: Insights and Observations on Successful Strategies for First Circuit Appellate Practice."

It's being hosted by The Massachusetts Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, The Boston Bar Association and The Woman's Bar Association .

There are several speakers lined up to present at this event, many of them familiar names within the First Circuit Court of Appeals. Here's a rundown on the speakers:

The Honorable Sandra L. Lynch. Judge Sandra L. Lynch is the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals by President Clinton in 1995 to fill the vacancy left by Justice Stephen Breyer. She has served as Chief Judge since 2008.

The Honorable Michael Boudin. Judge Michael Boudin was appointed to the First Circuit Court of Appeals in 1992 by George H.W. Bush. He served as Chief Judge from 2001-2008.

Judge Kermit Lipez. Judge Kermit Lipez was nominated to the First Circuit Court of Appeals by President Bill Clinton in 1997 and appointed in 1998. He took senior status in 2011.

Judge Jeffrey Howard. Judge Jeffrey Howard was nominated to the First Circuit Court of Appeals by President George W. Bush in 2001 and confirmed in 2002.

Judge Ojetta Rogeriee Thompson. Judge Ojetta Rogeriee Thompson is the first African American judge to sit on the First Circuit Court of Appeals. She was nominated in 2009 by President Barack Obama and confirmed in 2010.

The event is set to take place on June 6, 2012 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.

The location is the John Joseph Moakley Federal Courthouse, Jury Assembly Room, One Courthouse Way, Boston, MA.
