Chris Brown Restraining Order: Just Don't Bother Rhianna

Ah yes. The Chris Brown restraining order. Clearly a relic of times past. He's completed his 52-week domestic violence course, so why would Rihanna need its protection? He's obviously recovered.

Everyone remembers when, two years ago, Chris Brown was arrested for punching Rihanna several times in the head, choking her, biting her ear and fingers, and then threatening to kill her. More shocking than the photographs was his sentence: five years of probation, 1,400 hours of laborious community service, and a domestic violence program. No jail time.

In addition to his light punishment, the judge imposed what is the centerpiece of this post, the Chris Brown restraining order. Brown was not to come within close contact of Rihanna--50 yards on a normal day, 10 yards at industry events, according to Reuters. These terms are fairly standard for a domestic violence restraining order.

Well, the judge in charge of Brown's case has eased that restraining order. He no longer has to stay away from his ex-girlfriend, but Brown is still banned from "harassing, stalking or striking Rihanna" according to CNN. Harassing, stalking and striking another person are already illegal acts, which means that the remaining portions of the restraining order offer Rihanna no protection other than that she would normally receive.

Apparently, Rihanna doesn't have a problem with the new terms of the restraining order, reports the station. Someone needs to tell Rihanna that it's okay to move on and grant forgiveness, but that doesn't mean she has to let the guy near her.
