Chris Brown Finds Naked Woman in His Bed -- and It's a Crime

After a weekend partying in Las Vegas, Chris Brown was surprised with his very own Goldilocks moment.

According to reports, the the singer and new father returned home and found a random naked woman sleeping in his bed. The intruder had apparently been there for some time as she had time to spray paint "I love you" on Brown's kitchen counter and "Mrs. Brown" on his silver Rolls Royce and black Range Rover.

The woman was arrested and charged with felony burglary and felony vandalism.

Felony Burglary

In California, where Brown lives, the elements of burglary include: 1) entry 2) into the dwelling place of another, store, or vessel 3) with the intent to commit larceny or any felony therein. Burglary of a dwelling place is always a first degree felony, punishable by up to six years in prison.

Common defenses include: you had permission to be on in the dwelling; you never entered the dwelling; or you did not intend to commit any felony until after you entered the dwelling.

Three Strikes Law

A burglary is a strike offense under California's three strikes law, meaning it can be counted as a strike enhancement for subsequent crimes. This usually means that the sentence can be doubled.

California's three strikes law was enacted to provide harsher punishment for murders, rapists, and child molesters. However, most current three strike offenders are in prison for non-violent crimes. For cases of serious or violent felony third strike crimes, the mandatory sentence is 25 years to life.

Felony Vandalism

Vandalism is the act of defacing, damaging, or destroying the property of another. In California, vandalism causing more than $400 in damages is punishable by up to one year in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. If the damage caused exceeds $10,000, the maximum fine is raised up to $50,000.

What Could Happen To Goldilocks?

In this case, Goldilocks vandalized two very expensive cars and a kitchen counter. If the cost to repaint those cars exceed $10,000, she could expect a hefty fine and even a year in prison. Since the vandalism is charged as a felony, Goldilocks likely could be convicted with burglary. She definitely entered Chris Brown's home without permission. Her only defense might be something like she didn't intend to vandalize anything when she entered the building.

A bit of good news, since neither the burglary nor the vandalism was a violent crime, Goldilocks probably won't have to face a strike for the burglary if she ever decides to commit a crime again.
