Charlie Sheen Domestic Violence Case Assigned New Court Date

The domestic violence case involving actor Charlie Sheen and his wife is continuing with settlement talks and a new court date has been set.

As previously discussed, Charlie Sheen pleaded not guilty to one felony and two misdemeanor charges stemming from a Christmas Day domestic dispute in Aspen, Colorado with his wife Brooke Mueller.

Sheen's original court date was scheduled for June 18. However, Sheen is now scheduled to appear in Pitkin County District Court at 4 p.m. Monday, June 7, the Aspen Times reports.

Aspen prosecutor Arnold Mordkin declined to comment on settlement discussions but he did say that the two parties were moving closer to agreeing on a deal.

Sheen's defense lawyer said that the June 7 hearing was made in consideration of a final disposition (a manner in which a case is settled or resolved) that is acceptable to the district attorney's office.

Of the charges the class-five felony menacing count against Sheen carries the most weight. If convicted of that charge, Sheen faces a state prison sentence of one to three years.

In general, menacing is a crime and typically involves displaying a weapon or a course of conduct that intentionally places another person in reasonable fear of physical injury or death.

As previously discussed, the couple wants to patch things up after the altercation in Colorado on Christmas that led Brooke to claim that Sheen put a knife to her throat and threaten to kill her.

The star of CBS's "Two and a Half Men," was arrested on Christmas Day and released after posting $8,500 bond.

In this domestic violence case, Sheen's jury trial is set for to begin July 21.
