Actor Charlie Sheen and wife Brooke Mueller say they want to patch things up.

The Associated Press reports that the couple wants to reconcile after Mueller's domestic violence report to the police on Christmas Day. Mueller told police the actor threatened her life with a knife during an arguement that that started when she said she wanted a divorce.

Their lawyers say the pair now wants to work it out. Charlie Sheen's attorney, Richard Cummins said he is asking a judge to modify a restraining order that prevents the couple from having contact.

Both lawyers say the couple wants to reconcile despite the arrest.

Muller's attorney, Yale Galanter said that she is standing by the domestic violence report she gave police, but he said she didn't understand at the time that it would lead to her husband's arrest.

The 44-year-old actor spent the better part of Christmas Day in a Colorado jail cell after being arrested on domestic violence allegations.

Sheen told police they slapped each other and that he snapped two pairs of her eyeglasses in front of her. But he denied threatening Mueller with a knife.

According to the arrest affidavit, Mueller said her husband pinned her on a bed, held a knife to her throat and told her, "You better be in fear. If you tell anybody, I'll kill you. Your mother's money means nothing, I have ex-police I can hire who know how to get the job done and they won't leave any trace."

Sheen now faces second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.

A hearing is scheduled for February 8 in Aspen.
