Charged with Raping Horse? Call Attorney 'Cowboy Bob'

It's important for an attorney to have a niche. Attorney "Cowboy Bob Clark" knows this as well as anyone:

"Cowboy Bob" Clark is representing a Mobile, Alabama man who stands accused of having sexual relations with a miniature horse, which could also be called animal rape. The man, Eric Easley, is charged with cruelty to animals and for killing or disabling livestock after allegedly tying up the horse and sexually assaulting it in the horse's pen, according to the horse's owner. His bond was set at $4,000, which he posted and was released. Easley contends that he didn't have sex with the horse.

Cowboy Boy wasted no time in circling the wagons.

"You can accuse a bishop in Boston of bastardy, but that don't mean he did anything. You can get a ham sandwich and indict it, but that don't mean the ham sandwich was guilty of anything, except being a bad ham sandwich," said Cowboy Bob Clark.

However, Cowboy Bob may have his work cut out for him: police say they found a telling piece of evidence inside the pen -- Easley's wallet. But Easley has an explanation for that, he told local Alabama reporters he lost the wallet while trying to help a deer that had been injured.

The case began when the owner of the female horse noticed that the animal was acting strangely. She found the horses tail hair tied to a post. A veterinarian later discovered blood and additional evidence that would indicate a sexual assault.

Animal cruelty laws vary by state but traditionally have not been treated as severe as cases involving humans. That's largely because under the common law, animals have been regarded as property. That made it difficult to enact tough laws to deal with weird cases, such as the one at issue here, where a man is accused to raping a horse
