Celine Dion Break-In: Intruder Drew a Bath, Raided Singer's Fridge

Celine Dion's break-in reveals yet again that celebrities are just like us. They have intruders break into their homes and eat their food, just like us!

A Canadian man has made international headlines for his Celine Dion break in. Police say he raided Celine Dion's fridge, enjoyed a pastry, and even took the time to pour himself a bath.

When confronted by police as he descended the mansion's large staircase, he asked authorities, "Hey, guys what are you doing here?" the Toronto Sun reports.

Celine Dion and her husband, Rene Angelil, were not at home at the time. Dion and Angelil usually live in Florida but use the Laval residence when they come home to Quebec.

Daniel Bedard, 36, allegedly broke into the singer's luxury home located on Gagnon Island, a private piece of land in the Mille-Iles River near Montreal, CBS reports.

Police say the man had initially jumped a fence and tried to get into the home by opening a door, but that didn't work.

"Then he saw one of Rene's vehicles that was there and unfortunately the doors were not locked, the keys were in the ignition and there was also a garage door opener," Laval police spokesman Franco Di Genova said.

Bedard then used the garage door opener to gain access to the luxury residence.

Dion's security personnel called 911 after the mansion's alarm system went off. Police quickly arrived on the small, wooded island and a dog handler entered the house to look inside, the Sun reports.

"He opened the water faucets, was pouring a nice warmish bath (and) he even managed to eat some pastry that was in the fridge," Di Genova said.

Di Genova says Laval police worked their way through the house, starting with the basement and finally confronted the man on the main floor.

"The suspect was coming down the big staircase and was asking: Hey, guys what are you guys doing here?'," Di Genova said.

"So the officers replied: 'What are you doing here?' and they proceeded to put him under arrest."

Daniel Bedard was arraigned Tuesday for breaking and entering, auto theft and causing property damage. He is due back in court Nov. 21.

Police say the suspect might have psychological problems. He spent Monday night in a mental hospital, the Toronto Sun reports.

While French law differs from U.S. law in many respects, it's safe to say that if Bedard is not found to be mentally capable of knowing his actions were against the law, he may have to receive medical treatment before facing the charges for his soon-to-be infamous Celine Dion break in.
