The music industry has lost another rising star.

Rapper M-Bone of Cali Swag District, the group that last year brought you "Teach Me How to Dougie," was pronounced dead late last night at UCLA Medical Center in West Los Angeles.

Police have confirmed that the 22-year-old rapper was shot during a drive-by in his hometown of Inglewood, California.

M-Bone, born Mante Ray Talbert, was shot at about 10:30 p.m. while seated in the driver's seat of a black vehicle. He was parked outside of a liquor store located on the 400 block of North La Brea in Inglewood, reports MTV.

Reportedly, a car, possibly a red Mustang, carrying the gunmen pulled alongside M-Bone and then opened fire, shooting at least two rounds.

The Cali Swag District rapper received two of those bullets to the head.

Witnesses told KTLA-TV that the shooters then sped off only to return to the scene soon after as if to verify that they had hit their mark.

Inglewood is known for its high crime rate and the presence of rival gangs. In fact, in recent weeks, Police Chief Jacqueline Seabrooks has publically announced that she is working with the City Attorney on the reintroduction of court-ordered "gang injunctions" to help quell the violence.

At this point, there appears to be little information about the shooters, their motives, and whether it is related to gang violence. However, Inglewood Police have requested that anyone with information about the M-Bone shooting contact its Homicide Section at (310) 412-5246, or the department's anonymous hotline at (888) 41-CRIME.
