Buddy Valastro, the star of reality television series "Cake Boss," pleaded guilty to driving while impaired in a New York City courtroom on Monday.

Valastro is the owner of Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken, New Jersey, the subject of TLC's "Cake Boss" which wrapped its sixth season earlier this year. Valastro posted an apology on social media following his appearance in court, reports WCBS. "I pled guilty today because I wanted to make this right," wrote Valastro. "I learned an important lesson that if you have even one drink you shouldn't drive. I thought I was fine to drive, but I wasn't."

What consequences will Valastro now face?

'Boss' Observed Swerving Through Traffic in Yellow Corvette

Valastro was arrested and charged with DWI on November 13 after police reported observing a yellow Corvette driven by Valastro swerving through traffic in New York City's Hudson Yards neighborhood.

Police reported that Valastro showed physical signs of intoxication and that a breathalyzer test of his blood alcohol concentration indicated that he was under the influence of alcohol. Valastro also allegedly admitted that he had consumed alcohol prior to driving. He was arraigned later that day and was due back to court in January.

DWI Violation? Piece of Cake

Under New York DWI laws, a DWI violation may be charged as a traffic infraction, punishable by a fine of up to $500 and up to 15 days in jail. After pleading guilty to the violation, Valastro was sentenced to a 90-day driver's license suspension, a $300 fine and DWI classes, reports WCBS. With no jail time, Valastro won't have to dream of any cakes with files in them.

In his online apology, Valastro promises the he will "never get behind the wheel of a car again, even after one sip." That's probably a good idea: under New York law, repeat DWI convictions can result in as much as 180 days in jail and $1500 in fines.
