Butt Injections Get Lauretta Cheek, Phony Surgeon, Busted -- Again
A phony plastic surgeon has been busted again for illegal butt injections gone bad.
The arrest of Lauretta M. Cheek -- yes, that's her real name -- comes three years after she got spanked in court for performing, and botching, the same rump-rousing procedures in a separate case.
Cheek, 42, of Greensboro, N.C., has no medical license, and never claimed she did, the News & Record reports. But that didn't stop patients from trying to give their behinds a boost.
Cheek's operating room was at a Motel 6. She charged just $500, and seemed to rely on word-of-mouth referrals.
Too bad Cheek's latest patients hadn't heard about her illegal butt-injecting past.
Court records show three former patients suffered kidney failure after Cheek injected their butts with unidentified toxins back in 2007. Cheek was convicted of obtaining controlled substances, and remains on probation to this day.
In the latest case, Cheek performed another butt injection at a Motel 6 in Greensboro. Instead of a shapely derrière, the female patient -- an exotic dancer -- was left permanently disfigured.
"It appears that the substance that was injected into her basically burned its way back out," a sheriff's detective told the Associated Press. It's not clear what substance Cheek injected.
Cheek has a Jan. 11 court date to answer for her latest illegal butt injections. She faces charges of practicing medicine without a license.
But -- and this is a big but -- because Cheek did not claim to have a medical license, a conviction would only carry a maximum of 45 days in jail.
For the latest victim of Lauretta Cheek's illegal butt injections, that's totally a bummer.
