Bruno Mars' Cocaine Possession Case Cleared

Singer Bruno Mars' cocaine possession case has been dismissed by a Nevada judge. This means no jail time for the popular star. It seems Mars managed to dodge a huge Grenade.

Mars was busted back in September 2010. He was found with 2.6 grams of cocaine in a bathroom at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It was right after one of his performances.

Mars admitted that night to a guard that he'd done something wrong. He reportedly said that he "did a foolish thing and has never used drugs before."

He pled guilty February 16 last year to felony cocaine possession as part of a deal. His plea was postponed by the judge.

Plea bargains are relatively common in criminal cases. These deals are typically between the prosecutor and the defendant. Defendants will usually plead guilty in exchange for a lesser offense or sentence.

In Mars' case, there were several terms he needed to comply with in his agreement. He would then have the possibility to have the charge wiped off his record. He needed to complete a year of community service. He was also fined $2,000. He was placed on probation, and was required to complete drug counseling.

And it seems that the star finished all the requirements. He reportedly put in more than his requisite 200 hours of community service. He worked for 230 hours for children's and health-related charities, according to AOL Music.

Mars was a first-time offender, which may explain the way his charge was treated. And why the prosecutor was willing to make a deal.

It's a good day for Bruno Mars. His cocaine possession case is gone, and his criminal record is once again a clean slate.
