Bored Court Clerk Watched Porn During Rape Trial

Add this to the list of things you shouldn't do if you're bored at work: watch porn.

You'd think this is common sense. But apparently it isn't. A veteran London court clerk was caught looking at some racy images -- during a rape trial.

The 54-year-old clerk, Debasish Majumder, had worked at the court for years. He claimed he only looked at the pornography because he was "bored."

Yes, because a victim's emotional testimony about her attack is just so "dull"? Most would probably agree that is simply absurd.

Majumder was found out when the judge saw him viewing the dirty photos. After all, the judge was sitting right behind him during the trial, which took place in December of last year.

The judge later reported what he saw. The court clerk was charged and pled guilty to misconduct in public office and five counts of possession of indecent images. The latter charges were incurred after police found child pornography and other extreme images on his home computer.

He will be sentenced later this month.

Majumder's actions were certainly wrong. While it's inevitable to become bored at work sometimes, refrain from doing illicit activity.

Instead, here are some G-rated suggestions of what to do if you ever get bored at court:

  • Daydream about what your life would be like if you never went to law school.
  • Attempt to do complex math equations in your head. Lawyers are typically averse to numbers, so you may want to start off with the simplistic "1+1."
  • Practice your doodling skills.
  • Nap with your eyes open.

Whatever you do, don't be like the bored law clerk who watched porn.
