Bloody Bandage Baked into Pizza Hut Crust, NY Man Says

An intact bandage? In a pizza? Wouldn't it melt?

Putting aside the heat-withstanding qualities of nylon bandages and cotton, Ken Wieczerza of Ballston Lake, New York claims that, on June 9, he bit into a leftover slice of Pizza Hut pizza only to find that a blue bandage had been baked into the bottom crust.

Removing it from his mouth, he realized that the bandage also appeared to be spotted with blood.

Hopefully it was pizza sauce.

Ken Wieczerza told the Times Union that he and his wife originally tried to handle the incident with the manager at the Clifton Park Pizza Hut from which he purchased the pie.

He eventually had to involve corporate, though he told the paper the company has stopped responding.

Pizza Hut has declined to comment.

Wieczerza only wants Pizza hut to pay for testing to determine whether the bandage, which is currently stored in his freezer along with the slice, exposed him to any diseases, notes the paper.

Can he get more?

If this pizza-in-a-bandage incident turns into a lawsuit, it would have to either be brought on the grounds of negligence or as a defective product.

However, to receive compensation, a plaintiff must prove that he suffered from an injury, meaning that Wieczerza would have to show he was harmed in some manner.

While finding a bandage in pizza is traumatizing, Ken Wieczerza doesn't seem to be hurt or distressed over the incident, which means he would be unlikely to receive much compensation at all.
