A New Jersey babysitter sexually assaulted a 5-year-old girl in her care and streamed videos of the abuse online, prosecutors allege.

Jennifer Mahoney, 32, faces three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in connection with her alleged sex-assault videos, the Associated Press reports. The charges are "shocking in their depravity," a federal prosecutor told the AP.

Mahoney and the 5-year-old girl allegedly appeared in three pornographic videos, sent by video chat and by cell phone. Court documents reveal the extent of the alleged abuse:

Jennifer Mahoney is seen partially naked in the streaming babysitter sex-assault videos, at times fondling herself while abusing the 5-year-old girl in her sleep, the AP reports.

In one disturbing clip, Mahoney tells the girl to bend over in a bathtub so Mahoney can rinse her off. "Like a mermaid, sweetheart," Mahoney tells the girl, according to an FBI agent's account.

When questioned, Mahoney allegedly admitted she performed a sexual act on the girl, according to court documents. One incident was streamed live in an online chat, while two other videos were recorded and sent to viewers via cell phone.

Mahoney's defense lawyer told the AP his team is "reviewing the evidence, and we are going to do whatever we can to protect her rights."

Mahoney actually faces both state and federal charges, which can happen when a crime violates both state and federal laws. She pleaded not guilty to state charges earlier this month; if convicted under New Jersey's law, she would likely have to register as a sex offender for the rest of her life.

Jennifer Mahoney plans to plead not guilty to the federal charges as well, her lawyer tells the AP. A conviction on federal charges could land Mahoney in prison for up to 45 years.

At least one man in Texas has been arrested in connection with receiving Jennifer Mahoney's babysitter sex-assault videos, according to The Star-Ledger. Charges are pending.
