Avenatti's Domestic Violence Scandal
While many lawyers might find inspiration in the antics and high-profile style of Michael Avenatti, none are likely to envy his status after today. The lawyer turned TV sensation was taken into custody, allegedly related to serious domestic violence charges.
However, it's worth noting that any of the early reports should be considered cautiously as TMZ has already misreported, and other agencies re-reported, that Avenatti's recently estranged wife was involved, when in fact, she was not. Currently, it is unknown who made the allegations other than descriptions of a woman with bruises on her face.
Avenatti on the Other Side
While Avenatti may be used to representing high-profile clients, he is now faced with finding an attorney who can do the same. Since taking up legal fights with Donald Trump, his own profile has raised to near celebrity status. However, at this time, it is unknown if charges will even be filed.
Although he often gets heralded as a champion of the downtrodden, there is a side to Avenatti that can leave his supporters baffled. For instance, in addition to this domestic violence incident currently unfolding, the judgment against him for millions related to his prior law practice is a real head scratcher.
Sadly, the reports, if believed or accurate, do not bode well for Avenatti, nor his eventual high-profile attorney. It is alleged that he told police "she hit me first," before he called the incident "bullshit" a few times. Those quotes aren't exactly what any potential defendant would want airing on prime time, and in Avenatti's case, they likely will.
