If famous children's author K.P. Bath is writing a new book, he will have to write it from prison. Bath, known for The Secret of Castle Cant and Escape From Castle Cant was sentenced to six years in prison, five years of supervised probation and having his name added to the sex offender registry permanently.

Bath also stands to see his career as a children's author all but over. His newest book, Flip Side, was slated to be released last year, but his publisher pulled the plug after the child pornography charges. Going forward, it is unlikely that a publisher will work with him.

Bath was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Ancer L. Haggerty Thursday for downloading child pornography from the Internet. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Sussman stated that investigators found that in 2007 that Bath was using an online account named "Bugsworth" to obtain and trade child pornography from another man with the online account "Sickman069."

When police searched Bath's home in Portland, they seized his computers and USB drives. Bath had thousands of pictures of child pornography and he had over 100 videos. Bath was silent at the sentencing, but wrote a letter arguing that the government 'exercised too much power over his fate'. The judge was not persuaded.

Fortunately there was no evidence that Bath ever raped, molested or otherwise harmed a child. However, Sussman contended that the real victims of Bath were the children who were "raped, sodomized and tortued in the photos and videos" Bath collected.
