At Walmart, Find Everything You Need... to Rob It

Walmart prides itself on having everything a customer needs, and at a low price. That is why the company tag line is "Save money. Live Better. Walmart." A man in West Valley City, Utah, recently took that line a bit too literally. On Friday March 5, he reportedly found everything he needed to live well at Walmart, including the tools necessary to rob the place.

According to the Deseret Newsa man strolled in to the West Valley Walmart at the prime shopping hour of 2:20 a.m., on the Morning of Friday, March 5. Heading straight to the burglar tools, er, the hardware department, he selected a crowbar. Checking that item off his list, the robber proceeded to the electronics section of the store where he used his recent find to pry open the cases containing the iPods and Nintendo DS systems. At this point, readers might easily guess the thief is described by police as being a male in his mid-twenties.

Loading his "finds" into an also readily available shopping cart, the thief headed toward the door. Perhaps one thing the store did not have easily available to shoppers was a security guard. According to the police report, the thief moved easily toward the exit until confronted by a fellow "shopper." Unfortunately, the alert shopper had to back off when the thief protected his loot by brandishing a knife. Police did not confirm whether the thief brought the knife with him, or if he also found that item while shopping in the Walmart sporting department. Guns and safes are also available, according to the company website. Talk about one stop shopping.

The Deseret News reports that after calmly loading his goodies into an SUV, the perpetrator sped away, but not before witnesses were able to record and give the license plate number of the vehicle to police. It will come as no surprise that the car was also... stolen.

Since the Walmart "shopper" is still at large, the West Valley Police would like residents to be on the lookout for a male in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 150 pounds, with short brown spiky hair. He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans. If you think you have information regarding the Walmart super-shopper, please contact the West Valley City Police Department at 801-840-4000.

Note to Walmart: Save Money. Hire Security.
