Ashton Kutcher Paternity: Is He January Jones' Baby's Daddy?
Is Ashton Kutcher the father of January Jones' baby boy? Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. But rumors about Ashton Kutcher's paternity are swirling because of a recent blind item gossip tidbit.
BlindGossip.com ran a story on October 17 that speculated about a "married actor" who had a "one-night stand with one of his exes." It went on to specify that the actress is on an "acclaimed television show."
The story went on, explaining that the married actor's wife found out about the baby, and both husband and wife tried every tactic including "money, lawyers, threats to ruin her career" to get the ex to terminate her pregnancy. Then an online gossip blogger posted another item that succinctly read: "all signs point to January Jones."
Does it? Ashton Kutcher is married to Demi Moore. Their purported marital troubles have been all over the news.
January Jones stars on acclaimed AMC series Mad Men. She also dated Kutcher from 1998 to 2001, according to Fox News.
Jones gave birth to baby Xander in September. She's been mum about who the daddy is. And in fact, the birth certificate doesn't name a father. It's not required by law in California.
Even if it's not required, there is legal significance in determining paternity. Paternity can establish all manner of legal rights and obligations, including inheritance, child support, custody, and visitation.
There is generally no requirement for the father to sign documents in order to be listed on the birth certificate. Typically, the mother can put down whoever she believes is the father when the baby is born. But this can be challenged in court.
Since Jones left the father's name blank, she will have to go through court proceedings if she decides to add someone (like Ashton Kutcher) as a father on a later date. But is Ashton Kutcher's paternity story even true? Gossip is gossip, after all, and blind items should probably be taken with a grain of salt.
