Karma's a ... well, you know what karma is. And so do Eldon Alexander and Korin Vanhouten of Ogden, Utah.

The couple was caught shoplifting Thursday afternoon at a WinCo Foods grocery store. And while they were inside being questioned, a different thief was outside breaking into their truck.

That's right -- the shoplifters were robbed while they were off stealing someone else's stuff.

Eldon Alexander and Korin Vanhouten only took about $50 worth of merchandise, according to ABC News. But the unknown car thief took items worth $150 in value.

The shoplifters almost got away with makeup, energy bars and batteries. The car thief got away with a stereo, amplifier, drum machine and cigarettes.

They were robbed.

And cited for a class B misdemeanor, because the items they took were worth less than $500. Even so, the couple can still be punished with up to six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

If this is their first offense, they likely won't receive such a harsh punishment. And maybe the judge will take pity on the shoplifters, as they were robbed, too.

Probably not.

As for the car thief, police have security footage of him in action, reports the Deseret News. Yes -- from the same system responsible for catching the shoplifters. The video depicts a man in a red sweater scoping out the truck and eventually breaking in.

The police car was visibly nearby, but that didn't stop him. Didn't stop Eldon Alexander and Korin Vanhouten, either.
