Amy Duggar Extorted Over 'Intimate' Photos

An Iowa woman has been arrested for trying to blackmail Amy Duggar as part of a nefarious plot to remove her and her family from the airways. Her goal was to get TLC to cancel the Duggars' reality TV show, 19 Kids and Counting.

Teresa Hunt, the woman in question, sent a letter to executives, demanding that they pay her $10,000 or cancel the show. If they refused, she would release details  and "intimate photos" that purport to prove an affair between Amy and a 56-year-old male musician.

Those pictures aren't exactly intimate, according to Radar Online. The tabloid declined to purchase the photos from Hunt, stating that they were harmless. Duggar also told the magazine that the man is a family friend and a "good Christian."

The "good Christian" thing seems to be behind Teresa Hunt's decision to blackmail Amy Duggar -- even though she only appears on the show sparingly. She thinks the famous family claims to be Christian so it can "keep popping out more babies to keep their ratings up," reports the Associated Press.

She also told an undercover federal agent that she has nothing against Amy, except that she "pretends to be a right-ring Christian and she's sleeping with a 56-year-old man."

Teresa Hunt must think she's both the population and hypocrisy police.

Unfortunately, those aren't real positions, which means Hunt is accused of an actual crime. It's illegal to use the U.S. Postal Service to extort someone for money and threaten to ruin their reputation. The crime carries a sentence of up to 2 years in a federal prison and a fine.

That's a hefty price to pay for  Teresa Hunt's plan to blackmail Amy Duggar -- especially when there was nothing to her claims.
