Amber Portwood Jailed for Lying to Drug Case Worker: Report
Teen Mom Amber Portwood lied. Shocker. Or not.
The reality star will be spending this Mother's Day behind bars, apparently for violating the terms of her drug court program. She was placed in the diversionary program in February in lieu of serving a jail term.
Now gossip website TMZ reports she lied to her case worker about having a medical condition so she could skip her obligatory weekly appointments.
Attorney Evan Broderick confirmed at least some of these allegations to the Herald Bulletin. Portwood recently underwent surgery and was given permission to default on at least some of responsibilities. However, the judge told her she would need to continue with the drug program to the best of her present abilities.
It seems she didn't live up to that agreement. "I think things came to light that she could have been doing more," Broderick told the Bulletin.
What came to light was that Amber Portwood had lied, reports TMZ. Prosecutors allegedly told the court that she claimed she was put on bed rest after undergoing gallbladder surgery. Her case manager called to confirm with her doctor, who instead said she was well enough to attend the session she had missed.
Portwood's mother still insists "they got it wrong" and that "she shouldn't be where she's at right now."
As punishment for her lies, Portwood will remain in jail until at least next week, when a judge will consider her case. At that point, she may be ordered to remain behind bars or will be released and allowed to continue with the program. Regardless of the outcome, this may be the last time Amber Portwood lies to the court.
