50 Shades of Grey Sex Parties Gets Legal Threat from E L James

A 50 Shades of Grey party actually sounds kind of boring, doesn't it?

Ninety-five percent of your time would be spent brooding, wondering, and hoping that your potential partner would be the right one -- or possibly the love of your life -- even if he is a little "dangerous."

Four percent of your time would be spent on foreplay. And the last one percent would be spent on conventional sex, with the hint of excitement that something kinky could be coming next.

Still, given the craze of the mommy porn, entrepreneurs are trying to cash in on the craze, including throwing these 50 Shades of Grey parties. And E L James, the author of the book, is none too happy.

A British woman in her mid-40s is trying to cash in on the 50 Shades of Grey phenomena by throwing themed parties with an opportunity to purchase lingerie and "faintly fetishwear," reports the Sunday Mercury.

Along with selling racy lingerie, Tina Winters says she wants to set up these parties to pass on tips designed to end bedroom boredom. However, pretty soon after revealing plans for the party, she received a cease and desist letter from E L James' attorney telling her to stop associating the book with the parties.

That's because James' herself is reportedly also looking to merchandise off her brand, reports the Sunday Mercury. James' agent stated that "you can't just hijack something that someone else owns and use it for your own commercial adventures." The agent adding that they admire Winters' entrepreneurship and that Winters could apply for an official license if she wanted to (meaning if she is willing to pay for it).

This case is probably a good lesson for budding businessmen to talk to a lawyer and get the proper approvals before starting a business based off a brand. You don't want to invest a lot of money, only to be told that you have to shut your business down.
