3 Tips for the Last Weeks Before the Bar Exam

By George Khoury, Esq. on February 11, 2019 | Last updated on March 21, 2019

If you're in the middle of prepping for the February bar exam, you're just a couple weeks away now. And at this point, hopefully, you have a firm grasp on just about everything and it's all about fine tuning and practice.

Though, you may also be incredibly far behind and panicking. And frankly, that's okay too. You just don't want to neglect some of the critical planning steps. There's still time to study more, but you may want to think about focusing your studying efforts over the last two weeks, in addition to developing your sleep schedule, and making sure you have your exam day(s) plan.

Focus Your Study Efforts

The last couple weeks should, ideally, be focused on where you need the most work. If you took a bar prep course, that should have helped you identify those areas. For example, if you struggle with the MBE, then that should be the primary focus. Don't neglect the other areas and skills, but just don't devote the same amount of time to those.

Get Your Sleep Schedule Ready

Sleep is seriously important. In the last couple weeks leading up to the exam, you should try to get your body and mind on the same schedule as the test. That means waking up at the same time, eating at the same time, and making sure your body's natural rhythms and movements won't derail your day.

Exam Day Services Prep

Your exam day or days are critically important, and you should have your plan ready. From confirming your computer or whatever other tech you may be relying on is functioning properly, to confirming hotel reservations, travel plans, parking accommodations, baby sitters, dog sitters, post-exam masseuses, or whatever else you need, you need to make time to do this now so you have time to adjust in case of last minute changes. Also, for critical services, like baby/dog sitting, or hotel reservations and transportation/parking, having backups ready and on-deck is probably a good idea.
